“ChiTenOMar” is a site-specific sound intervention installed on the NABA campus in Milan. From a speaker positioned at the base of a fire escape, the continuous sound of crashing water resonates through the metal structure, echoing across the surrounding architecture.
As the first material outcome of an ongoing exploration into sound and spatial perception, "ChiTenOMar" investigates the tension between the artificial and the organic — between the human impulse to construct and the innate desire to reconnect with natural elements. The piece evokes a sense of displacement: a mirage of water within a built environment, where the presence of nature is reduced to its sonic trace.
Descending the stairs, the viewer follows the sound only to encounter absence. This moment of dissonance becomes an invitation to reflect on the way contemporary spaces simulate, replace, and distance us from the natural world, transforming our experience of “nature” into an echo that lingers within the structures we inhabit.
